Forwarding, as the term implies, routes incoming phone calls to another phone number, which may be at home, in the office, on your cell phone, or even in your voice mailbox. It’s an interesting feature, except that forwarding calls to phone numbers outside your local coverage area is considered long distance.
Call forwarding, simply set up, can increase your availability to the caller. Another benefit of this feature is that your caller won’t have to face annoying situations such as: no network, busy, unavailable, call cannot be answered, etc.
An only alternative is an answering machine or voicemail, but some callers don’t want to leave a recorded message for fear that the caller will be late or forget to call back.
Some companies recognize that human contact is necessary, so they transfer their calls to the call center. That way, the customer gets to a telephone operator rather than an answering machine or voicemail box.
Call forwarding is now a standard feature offered by many carriers. Using this feature is quite simple:
To activate it :
– Press *72.
– Enter the phone number to which you want to forward calls. (for example, *72-908-123-4567).
– Press SEND and wait for confirmation. You should hear a confirmation tone or message.
– Press END.
– Press *73.
– Press SEND and wait for confirmation. You should hear an acknowledgement tone or message.
– Press END.
Call Forwarding Unanswered Calls
This feature can be turned on if you want calls to be forwarded to another number when you are away from the phone. If the phone does not answer after three or five rings or is turned off, the call will be forwarded to a preset number.
Busy Call Forwarding
This feature can be activated to forward all incoming calls to a selected phone number when you are busy answering another call.
Advanced Call Forwarding
This feature allows you to forward incoming calls to different phone numbers at different times of the day, depending on your weekly schedule.
Business travelers and employees have found call advertising an easy and effective way to stay in touch with customers. It makes an important contribution to building an international business without bricks and mortar. Free call forwarding works by subscribing to toll-free numbers – national and international. When customers call these numbers, the calls are automatically forwarded to your pre-specified phone number, no matter where in the world you are.
Some service providers offer international call forwarding by assigning the customer a local virtual phone number that will be forwarded to any other international destination. This is an easy and cost-effective way to grow your business overseas.
Along with free call forwarding, many service providers offer useful features for business at no extra charge. You can add voice mail, fax to e-mail, auto attendant, and the ability to call multiple lines simultaneously or sequentially to any phone number.
Free Call Forwarding Call forwarding to one phone is certainly useful, but if you want extra convenience, you can choose multiple call forwarding. You can choose up to five numbers to ring at the same time when you have an incoming call. This is a quick and convenient way to ensure that no customer call is missed.
