What is a Chain pump? | Working, Parts, and Specialty

The chain pump is a common type of the pump. It is most commonly used in rural areas. The chain pump consists of a rotating chain that moves the drum or rotates and is immersed in water to lift it. This chain has spaced or lifting discs that are inserted into a tube through which the riser passes and carries water to the drain point.

Chain Pump Irrigation system

The chain irrigation pump consists of two large wheels connected by chains. A cube is attached to the chain. Part of the chain is immersed in the water source. When the wheels turn, the bucket of water takes over. Then he chains them to the wheel, where the water has settled in the water source. The empty barrel was returned.

The chain pump or chainsaw is designed only to remove the submersible pump from its very wet place.

What exactly is a submersible pump?

A submersible pump is exactly what the name suggests; it is a pump capable of pumping water and other liquids from below the surface of the water (immersion type). They are commonly used in drilling, wells, mines, water and sewage areas, industry; and sludge pumping, mining, sea treatment and also used by firefighters. They can be submerged for a long time and sometimes remain permanently in place in some places.

Submersible pumps should not only be installed, they should also be raised, which is often very difficult, especially when in deep wells. The pump chain provides the only response normally dedicated to this function.

Why is the chain pump special?

Chain pumps basically have chain links in the usual way, but not only are they easy to connect, they also have larger main chain links with each extra meter. This causes the pump to increase by 1 meter as each main link to the lifting machines gradually increases.

Since submersible chain pump uses in remote areas and generally have great depths, the pump lifting chain stays in place for a long time because the pump appears to be too deep underwater and needs to be retrieved. For maintenance or sometimes for cutting the upper end of the chain is firmly placed under the surface, in an easily accessible place for connection to the lifting device.

Certainly, some kind of lifting system is needed to lift the pump. First you need some kind of crane. It can be a simple chain lifter, a lifting lever or an electric motor lifter. Lifting devices must be clearly suspended on some types of frames. For normal operation, for this program, the tripod can be inserted through the pump hole and the crane fixed to the frame. Tripods are used because they can be moved and installed with reasonable ease in remote and difficult areas. Lifting the pump can take a lot of time and effort, but it is necessary.

Due to the depth of the chain pump and the low height of the tripod, the pump cannot be raised at the same time. It should be raised every 1 meter, corresponding to the main link of the chain to the pump lifting chain. It is also necessary to place a rigid rod on the well so that it can be pressed from the connecting rod to the pump, while the main connecting rod has been removed from the crane so that the crane can land on the next existing link, where the best Lifting can be done and the procedure restarted and repeated until the pump was removed.

Pump lifting chains are generally made of 316 and 80 stainless steel and 40 stainless steels, but the stainless-steel series is often the most popular because it is used due to the nature of the environment in which it is used. They found themselves; They are almost always wet and sometimes dirty. Stainless steel has excellent environmental resistance. For this reason, a chain link to a conventional pump is a stainless-steel shackle.

The chain pump comes in a variety of sizes to choose from, including chain length and size, usually chain links from 4mm to 26mm, so it can be suitable for most businesses.

Advantages of Chain Pumps

  1. The chain pump has to drain the water from the well, so there is nothing to do and it saves us time and money.
  2. The water can be pumped from the ground using chain pumps.

Disadvantages of Chain Pumps

Poor products can cause damage or breakage to the chain. This is a serious situation. Since no chains were found, the pump could not cover everything.
